Here is a list of frequently asked questions and Big Chuck’s answer!
Ask any prospective installer of sprinkler, mosquito control and drainage systems the following questions:
“Are you licensed?” – Many fly-by-night installers are not licensed by the state. They will not have the necessary expertise and may not install your system properly, creating problems and additional expenditures later on. You will have no recourse or remedies through state regulators.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Yes, we are a fully licensed irrigator in the state of Texas.
“Are you insured?” – An uninsured or under insured installer can leave you holding the bill for any damages incurred in the course of the installation. Accidents can happen but you shouldn’t have to pay for them! And be sure to ask about workers comp coverage.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Yes, we are fully insured, bonded and covered by workers comp.
“How long have you been in the sprinkler business?” – Every yard and landscape is unique. Soil types, shade patterns, grade, depth of beds, drainage and types of plantings and grasses are all variables that might be lost on the novice. Years of experience in installing and servicing sprinkler, drainage and mosquito control systems can make a huge difference in the cost, efficiency and reliability of your system.
Big Chuck’s Answer: We’ve been in the business for fourteen years.
“Will a sprinkler system raise my water bill?” – An improperly installed or broken sprinkler system will almost surely waste water and result in higher bills. If properly installed and programmed, it can actually lower bills because of the more efficient use of water.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Not if we install it.
“Can you provide references, both old and new?” – Four or five or even a dozen or more favorable testimonials spread out over a few years could be cherry picked. Request contact information for both recent and older customers. Older customers can speak to issues of service and the long-term dependability of their systems. Recent customer accounts can offer assurance of consistent quality work, reducing the possibility of cherry picked references.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Absolutely. Just say how many and from when.
“What brands of sprinkler components do you use in your installations?” – Cheap sprinkler components might save money on the front end but will cost more in the long run.
Big Chuck’s Answer: We use only Rain Bird and Hunter, the best on the market.
“Can you install a mosquito control system at the same time as the sprinkler installation? Will it cost a great deal more?” – Many installers don’t even offer this or have only recently gotten into the business.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Of course we can and, in fact, you can achieve great savings on labor costs by having both done at the same time. If you already have a sprinkler system and want an insect/mosquito control system retrofitted, we can handle that as well, at a price that can match or beat others.
“Are the mosquito control systems environmentally friendly and safe for children and pets?” – Again, not offered by many installers.
Big Chuck’s Answer: Yes, our mosquito control systems are safe and environmentally friendly.
